The report includes some shocking quotes from the late Rabbi David Hartman, which appeared in the Washington Post in March 1, 2002, at the height of the Second Intifada, when he urged Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to be more brutal:

Poland (1942 – ’43)
“I came to Auschwitz with my Jewish parents already in 1942, where we were separated. After that, I never saw them again.
“I must have been about 13 at the time, and was promptly put to work. Auschwitz was a huge place in those days, with many different jobs for people of every age and skill. I was provided with a kind of rasp, with which to roughen one side of a sheet of leather (~ 45 cm X ~30 cm) which had several circles (~7 – 10 cm) neatly punched out of it. I guessed this was intended to be used as a kind of gasket. Suffice it that the work-day was long and tedious; the ‘accommodations’ minimal in every respect, but we could purchase some amenities using the camp Scrip, with which we were paid monthly. We were told that, after the war, we would be rewarded and granted our freedom.
“The ‘atmosphere’ at Auschwitz began to change during the winter of 1942-43. It was apparent from the expression and behaviour of the Camp’s officers and staff that, for them, the war was not going well. At this time, too, we observed a number of experiments intended to increase various aspects of the Camp’s efficiency.
“One morning, for example, we arose to see a black plastic (?) tent being erected in the open space before a barracks for senior laborers. That same evening, on returning from our shift, we noted the tent’s peculiar dimensions. It appeared to be no more than 3 meters high, about 4 meters across each end — which opened to a single flap — and perhaps 25 meters in length.
“We were granted only few hours during which to speculate on the purpose of this strange tent, for — by the following morning — we found labourers, guards, and officers already at work on what was to prove the supporting structure for a 3-meter wide conveyor belt, running from the seniors’ barracks through the length of the tent, and on to a line of elevated steel racks (beneath which piles of wood were observed gradually to accumulate). Altogether, this transport system must have extended at least 150 meters, and quite possibly more. It was powered by a single noisy Diesel engine, running at a constant speed, which moved the belt rather faster than the average man can walk.
“Of course, we had no access to the area in which this experiment was run. Consequently, I can tell you only what we saw from a distance of 50 and more meters away, and what we concluded from those observations.
“The belt was ‘loaded’ with perhaps two dozen recumbent figures. Most appeared to be capable of movement, though not of locomotion. We believed that these were, for the most part, sick and/or elderly Jews who were no longer capable of contributing to the fascist war effort. When the Diesel was started and the conveyor began to move, some of these pathetic figures began to roll about uncontrollably. Accordingly, guards had to be posted about four meters apart, along the entire route, to prevent figures from falling off.
Most of these creatures continued to flail about until they disappeared into the black tent. Upon their re-emergence at the other end, all motion had ceased. We concluded that, at the heart of this tent, there lay either a homicidal gas chamber, or some other infernal fascist machine — e.g., a ‘death ray’ — dedicated to the same purpose.
“At the beltway’s terminus, bodies were dumped unceremoniously on the ground, where they tended to accumulate. It soon proved necessary to shut the system down until corpses could be lifted atop the crematory grill. It required at least 24 hours and an immense stockpile of wood (including carts and furniture) to consume a single body, after which a more or less intact skeleton remained. This had to be laboriously broken up with steel rods.
“The experiment continued for several days, but was eventually abandoned when it became inescapable that effective disposal required far more modern, coke-fired ovens than were ever likely to be made available.”

We have all read innumerable personal accounts of the “holocaust,” some longer and more plausible that this, others perhaps shorter and less persuasive than the current example. For the fact is that the overwhelming majority of “evidence” for a holocaust of Jews during W.W. II comes from anecdotes more or less comparable to this one. Moreover, so inadequate is the forensic evidence assembled in an effort to portray Hitler, Himmler, Goebbels, et al., as “monsters” that many European nations have made it illegal to express even the slightest doubt regarding the veracity of such tales.
So, what do you think? Did the Germans murder 6 million Jews, exactly as they claim? Do you believe the events described in this report occurred substantially as described, or might they have been fabricated? In either case, what in – your opinion – was the purpose in writing them? Liberal Zionists and rightwingers shed differences in effort to save the Jewish state

The Israel Policy Forum has sent a letter to Netanyahu supporting John Kerry’s framework. The signatories represent a “broad cross-section of the American Jewish community,” and the letter is a nudge-nudge to Netanyahu to do the right thing, because Israel is at risk:
We believe Secretary Kerry’s determined diplomatic effort offers an unprecedented opportunity to ensure Israel’s security, to enhance its prosperity, and to avoid the existential threat to the Jewish state posed by bi-nationalism.
What I find most remarkable is that Israel-right-or-wrong folks like Alan Dershowitz, Barney Frank, Lester Crown of the Council on Foreign Relations, Charles Bronfman (funder of Birthright Israel) and Michael Adler of AIPAC signed up alongside liberal Zionists like Peter Joseph and Roly Matalon and Neil Barsky (partnered with Bill Keller on a new liberal criminal-justice website). And let’s call David Axelrod a liberal Zionist. And all at the behest of a group that was once liberal Zionist and employed MJ Rosenberg.
What this demonstrates is that as the two-state paradigm crumbles inside our discourse, the lobby will cease to be divided and everyone will be “liberal Zionists,” in the sense that they are seeking to pressure the Israeli government, even AIPAC. And all will be “rightwing Zionists” in the sense that they’re raising fears about a binational state and saying nothing about Palestinian human rights. In short, we are approaching a period in which American Zionists will be called upon to say how important a Jewish state is to them, and if it’s important, put aside your differences and sing out in one voice. Roger Cohen’s angry denunciation of BDS is in this category; he really cares deeply about the Zionist dream.
My disappointment here is that good liberals like Barsky and Matalon are signing on. Though I predict that the great payoff of the period we’re approaching is that some of the liberal Zionists are going to shed their Zionism entirely– as Communists ran for the exits in the 1950s– because it’s anachronistic, or because it has never relieved Palestinian discrimination, for one second, or because they’ve been publicly shamed. And then good folks like Peter Beinart will ultimately come out against Zionism. His book of two years ago The Crisis of Zionism was prompted, he writes in the introduction, by a horrifying scene on the West Bank, from 2010. Well those conditions haven’t changed; families are still being torn apart and arrested because they dare to resist settlers’ incursions. And how long can an ideology be in crisis before you say it’s bankrupt?
Here’s the letter.
Dear Prime Minister Netanyahu:
At this critical juncture for the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, we write to express the sentiment of a broad cross-section of the American Jewish community in support of your continued efforts to pursue a negotiated resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on two states for two peoples.
As American advocates for a strong, Jewish and democratic Israel, we have been heartened by Secretary of State John Kerry’s extraordinary resolve to advance this process consistent with America’s unwavering commitment to Israel’s security. We believe Secretary Kerry’s determined diplomatic effort offers an unprecedented opportunity to ensure Israel’s security, to enhance its prosperity, and to avoid the existential threat to the Jewish state posed by bi-nationalism.
It is our hope that President Mahmoud Abbas will join you in demonstrating leadership to advance these talks.
