Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reiterated his controversial remarks on the occupied Golan Heights despite criticism.
Netanyahu made the comments in a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Meanwhile, the Arab League is holding a meeting on the issue and is expected to pass a resolution in condemnation of Israel’s claim to Golan. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation also called Netanyahu’s remarks a violation of international law. The Israeli prime minister’s statement drew criticism from the U-S and the European Union as well. Israel captured the Golan Heights from Syria in 1967 and annexed it in 1981.

The Israeli presence in the Golan Heights is in dispute.
