Che Guevara Full Documentary [Must Watch]

Che Guevara; the face of revolution, a style icon, a symbol of rebellion. The man stood for many things the world has been fighting since the dawn of time and he gave his life as a martyr for such a cause, which resulted in his immortality. He lived hard, and he died young, at the peak of his fame. This is a tribute to the legend, about a few less known facts about one of the greatest revolutionaries of all time.

“Che” is an interjection
His famous nickname “Che” is just a casual speech filler which he used frequently. He came to be known as Che Guevara by 1953. I’m sure a lot of people must’ve done a lot of research to find some inspiring meanings for the nickname of this great revolutionary, simply to find that it just means “Eh…..”

Brainy Guevara
Ernesto Guevara wasnt just a fiery leader, he was a top level intellectual, right from the early days. He grew an affinity towards chess by the age of 12. He was an avid reader, and a passionate admirer of poetry. He had a collection of over 3000 books and made handwritten notes of concepts and philosophies of his favorite intellectuals, even composing analytical sketches of Buddha and Aristotle. The CIA, in 1958 would describe him as “quite well read” and that he was fairly intellectual for a latino in their declassified “biographical and personality report”.

Not a Cuban
He is often associated with Cuba for his involvement in the overthrowing of the Cuban Dictator Fulgencio Batista. But he was born and brought up in Argentina. His family was of Basque and Irish descent. But, I can assure you, Che Guevara would discard all that and say that the world was his playground. He fought for the freedom of the common man, and the story is the same everywhere.

Che has 5 kids
He was a man for the people, of the people and by the people, he was also a father of five, whom he had from two marriages. He married Hilda Gadea Acosta, a Peruvian Economist, in 1955. They had one daughter. in 1959, Che Guevara confessed to Hilda that she was involved with another woman. They both agreed on a divorce, and he married Aleida March, a Cuban born member of the 26th of July movement, who was with him till his death. They had 4 children. Che’s first daughter with Hilda was named Hilda and his first daughter with Aleida was named Aleida. Others were Camilo, Celia, and Ernesto.
The Iconic Photograph

Described as the “most famous photograph in the world”, the portrait of his face, which can be found almost everywhere, like t-shirts, posters, graffiti, tattoos etc. It was captured by Alberto Korda. It was named as “Guerrillero Heroico” which means “Heroic Guerrilla Fighter” and was captured on March 5th, 1960 in Havana, Cuba. It is statistically, the photo which has reproduced more than any other in the history of photography. He was 31 years old when the photo was taken.

Che for Christ?
After his execution, he began to develop a “Sanctified” image. The locals and even artists, and other media personalities saw a physical resemblance to Jesus Christ. They soon began comparisons. Both were doctors, as in, Christ was a miracle healer, Che was a trained physician. Both fought for similar goals, like owning less and sharing all, and both urged people to leave their comfort zone and sacrifice for the greater good.
